Literature Text
Around me I see
Words embedded on people’s skin
That were not theirs to keep
And as I try to understand their true nature
I am blinded by a red string of lies
Conveyed by people that do not have the right
To label them
I can see them aggressively pushing
Undeniably breaking free
To show the truths hidden within
But they are once again wrapped tight
By expectations they are not meant to attain
Their despair and aggravation
Showing in their eyes
And it makes me wonder
If I too am bound
By statements I have not uttered myself
But as I look at the mirror
Smiling unreservedly so
I see nothing but who I am now
With no words enfolding me
Though it does not matter
For the reason that the labels I cannot see
I refuse to search for
And the one I see in front of me
Is what I truly believe
